Small Red Fused Glass Lattice Star by Nicky Exell
This beautiful light-catcher can be hung in a window or against a pale wall. It comes with its own loop and wire and is ready to be hung up and measures 18cm high and 18cm wide
As each light-catcher is individualy handmade there may be slight differences from the example shown.
Nicky states:-
'I work with kiln-formed glass to create fused glass pictures, panels, bowls and light-catchers.  My inspiration comes from a variety of sources but in particular  the area in which I live, close to Exmouth beach and the beautiful Devon coastline.
Kiln-formed glass is a contemporary approach to glass art.  I am especially interested in the unique translucent and reflective qualities of glass and by using advanced fusing techniques I aim to maximise these qualities in my work by achieving subtle effects with the layering of glass before firing in the kiln. In many ways it is like painting with light. The same piece of finished glass can take on a whole new character when placed in a different amount of light or at a different time of day.  It is in partnership with light that glass comes alive. It is then glowing and brilliant, reflective and refractive.
I am constantly pushing the boundaries of fusing techniques and experimenting with new ideas and firing schedules. I find fused glass a challenging and exciting medium and am constantly developing my ideas into new areas.  Each day is a new beginning and a new challenge working with colours and light and manipulating them into a satisfying art form.
My wish is to create pieces in a variety of forms and sizes in order that it can be appreciated by all those that enjoy owning a piece of art formed in this exciting medium'.
Nicky studio is based in Exmouth, Devon. She has exhibited throughout Devon and takes part in the Devon Open Studios Event each year.
