Natalie Warne "The Lady of Spring"

Natalie Warne "The Lady of Spring" Original Mosaic on Board 28 x 50 cm

Originally from Plymouth, I spent some time traveling the world with my partner. During that time we experienced many different cultures including those of Thailand, India, Egypt & Israel. Later we settled in Staverton (nr. Totnes) & this is where we still live now.

Always having had an interest in crafts & Art I was by that time making jewellery using semi-precious stones & soon became drawn to the art of mosaic. I gradually taught myself the techniques & skills involved & for the last six years have been creating mosaics, which have been exhibited in galleries in Plymouth, Totnes, Exeter & America. I also had a successful solo exhibition in Totnes in 2008 titled ‘A Journey through colour & texture’.

I was also recently very pleased to receive a ‘highly commended’ for my mosaic ‘confused - yes I am’, in an online competition, for which one of the judges was world famous mosaic artist Martin Cheek.

My inspiration initially came from the artwork of the diverse cultures I had been exposed to whilst travelling. Colours are a huge inspiration & I love bold bright hues. More recently I have been drawn to mixed media mosaics, as I really enjoy including different textures, levels, depths & materials in my Art. I also love materials that ‘ play with light’ & try to include refraction & iridescence wherever possible in my work.

I enjoy creating both geometric/abstract pieces & more figurative representations. I have also crafted outdoor sculptures, tables & birdbaths & welcome commissions.
