Julia King-Keast

Julia lives and has her studio in Sidmouth, East Devon. The local coastal woodland where she loves to go running provides inspiration for her mixed media paintings.

A graduate from the University of Plymouth, Julia received a BA Hons in Fine Art. She employs an unusual mixture of materials associated with the woodland landscape, such as ash, bark, soot and latex, combining these with wax, oil and acrylic paint and scratching back into the surface. Her wish is to evoke an eerie remoteness of an unattainable place.

‘My work is concerned with establishing a connection with a feeling, experienced and remembered, but just out of reach’ she states.
