Artist's Statement

"I was born in Plymouth, UK in 1968. My passion for drawing developed in my teenage years when I started to experiment with fashion designs, which led to me designing costumes for a YMCA production "Tears Are Not Enough", and later designing my own dress for my first wedding.

My inspiration for serious painting began when studying A Level Art under Vincent Wilson, an established Newlyn School Artist. He introduced me to the work of Lucian Freud and this ultimately led to my first exhibition of portrait paintings at Plymouth's Theatre Royal in 1994.

After a break to start a family, I returned to painting with a new focus on floral work and I am currently continuing to develop my techniques and style within this theme."
