Catherine Kennedy

My artwork looks at change and development of an image over time. Elements are created and left to metamorphose over time, their eventual form can only appear after a period of waiting.

For the spin paintings acrylic paint was thrown onto a spinning surface. The paint was expelled from the surface and captured on cartridge paper. The saturated paper was then left to dry slowly. The resulting patterns and forms develop over time on the canvas to form the final image.

The flood paintings are created by moving paint across a surface with various shaped objects, the paint builds over time so that the canvas becomes saturated. It is then left to dry slowly evolving into it final form. I graduated from the University of Plymouth and live and work in Teignmouth, Devon.
